In the eyes (and ears) of players, it's even more awesome than the previous game with the news that along with DKCR's main composer Kenji Yamamoto, David Wise, one of the series' original composers, is producing the soundtrack.
Special mention goes to Skowl, which has a surprising variety of attacks to be only the second boss, and its music has been favorably compared to that of Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. Awesome Bosses: ALL SIX bosses are really fun to fight, have creative designs, and have awesome music accompanying them. While Returns mostly reused environments and music from the first Donkey Kong Country, Tropical Freeze gets more experimental with world themes and features a largely original soundtrack by David Wise himself.Waggle has been completely removed, with the game having a traditional button control scheme just like the 3DS version of Returns. The Super Guide has been removed, meaning that players are no longer forced to listen to Professor Chops constantly jingling after losing a certain number of lives.Minecarts and rocket barrels are no longer One-Hit-Point Wonder stages, alleviating them of That One Level status. While the Kremlings still have not yet returned, the Snowmads have been praised for having the same memorable charm that was lacking in the Tiki Tak Tribe.Author's Saving Throw: Retro Studios addressed multiple criticisms about Returns in order to make an Even Better Sequel:.The Snowmad ship landing on top of the volcano that was once the Tikis' home, and the evil laugh of Tiki Tong heard at one point in Meltdown Mayhem suggest the latter. When the Pointy Tucks sees Donkey Kong's treehouse, his reaction is to panic and alert Lord Fredrik, and when Fredrik sees the island from his distance, he nods as if to say "Yep, that's the place." This could imply that the Snowmads have some bitter resentment against the Kongs, whether it's jealousy of their luxurious lifestyle, or the intent on avenging the previously defeated Tiki Tak Tribe. Alternative Character Interpretation: There may be more to the whole Snowmad takeover than one might think.Super Mario Maker and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker getting into the Top 10, despite their popularity and success, was another issue for the fans. Many fans complained when Destructoid made a Top 10 best Wii U games without DKTF on the list, despite the game earning a perfect score on the same website.
